A man died after he drove off a road and crashed into a fence and a tree Monday in Murray.

The man, 40, was driving a Ford Crown Victoria about 5:45 p.m. west on 5600 South when he veered off the side of the road near 1850 East, said Unified Police Department Lt. Justin Hoyal.

The vehicle took out a fence and hit a tree, Hoyal said. The man was taken to Intermountain Medical Center, where he died.

Investigators believe speed was a factor, Hoyal said.

Police would not identify the man pending family notifications.
