A Sandy woman remained in critical condition Tuesday, the day after she was struck by a car as she retrieved a fallen bicycle from Interstate 80 in Parleys Canyon.

The Utah Highway Patrol identified the victim as Jennifer Strong, 30.

UHP Cpl. Todd Johnson said that Strong was riding in an eastbound pickup truck with her husband and several young children when it hit a bump and the bicycle fell off about 2 p.m. Monday. The truck stopped and pulled over on the right side. Strong had retrieved the bike from the left lane and was on her way back to the truck when she was struck by a Nissan Sentra.

She was taken to a Salt Lake City hospital, where she underwent surgery for multiple injuries.

The accident remained under investigation.
