A man from China who was part of a tour group died Sunday when he lost control of his motorcycle on Interstate 15 just south of Tremonton.

Bin Gu, 42, drove into the center median of the freeway where he hit a barrier cable, the Utah Highway Patrol reported.

Gu was with three other riders — traveling from Jackson Hole, Wyo., to Salt Lake City — when the crash occurred at about 12:19 p.m.

Gu was taken to Bear River Valley Hospital in Tremonton, then flown by helicopter to McKay Dee Hospital in Ogden, where he died about four hours later.

He was wearing a helmet but suffered extensive facial and head trauma, the UHP reported.
