Here's your weekly roundup of what local city councils, school boards and other government entities are tackling during regularly scheduled meetings. Alpine Planning Commission • Will consider granting preliminary and final approval for the River Meadows Senior Housing Project, at approximately 199 E. Red Pine Drive; Tuesday, Aug. 21, 7 p.m., 20 N. Main. View the Alpine agenda.

Highland City Council • Public hearing on amending the development standards for senior care assisted-living overlay zone relating to building height, site coverage, setbacks, landscaping, parking, buffering requirements; Tuesday, Aug. 21, 7 p.m., 5400 West Civic Center Drive. Salt Lake County Council • Will consider an interlocal agreement with Salt Lake City to split the initial $50,000 cost of hiring a consultant to study financing models for a downtown convention center hotel; Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2 p.m. work session, Room 2003 of the North Building of the County Government Center, 2001 S. State St. At its 4 p.m. meeting, the council is expected to adopt an ordinance establishing a tobacco specialty business license to crack down on sales of spice and other synthetic drugs in the unincorporated area.
