Blu-ray •The second season of AMC's most-watched television series, "The Walking Dead," earned mixed reactions. Many fans wanted more flesh-chomping scenes. Instead, they got dense dialogue exchanges thanks to recent network budget cuts that limited the zombie action, and that elicited more groans from fanboys and girls than from a horde of zombies.
But this isn't just a mindless midnight gorefest. The show's brilliant writers are more interested in focusing on heartbreaking character conflict and tragic surprises, and the result is some of the best-written television this year. The survivors arrive at a farm where they battle the zombie army and each other as tension builds inside. It was a remarkable and affecting season with an explosive finale that is a great prelude to the upcoming season in October.
The Blu-ray and DVD sets come with audio commentaries, webisodes, deleted scenes and behind-the-scenes featurettes.
