Re "GOP suppressors" by Marc Hoenig (Forum, Aug. 25):
To equate a photo ID requirement to "suppression" is at best disingenuous and at worst scurrilous. Given such logic, the Driver License Division practices driver suppression, airports are guilty of flyer suppression, and passports represent travel suppression.
Perhaps it's those tyrannical Republican governors who convinced Costco to require photo ID, thus perpetrating shopper suppression. That in 2012 we're required to have ID for Costco and not for the right to cast a ballot for the leader of the free world could only be suppressive in Hoenig's liberal fantasy land.
