Letter of the Week: We can't take four years of this

While I was not a combat veteran and do not attempt to put myself in their category, I have tried to be a productive citizen. That included three years in ROTC, seven years in the Navy Reserve and working for 35 years as a civilian in the Department of Defense.

I held a top-secret security clearance for over 30 years and protected my country's interests as best I could. I paid my taxes honestly since I was 14 years old and voted every year. I had the privilege of dealing with people in other countries and companies within the scope of my assignments.

During my years I have seen 13 presidents in the White House. I liked some of the things they did and didn't care for others, but for the first time in my life I am embarrassed, repulsed and afraid at the stupid actions of an egotistical, ignorant, immoral, "bull in a china shop" who is actively embracing our enemies while alienating all of out friends and allies.

Four years of him will either result in war or an undoing of our democracy and all of the accomplishments of those other presidents. It's clear he alternates between trying to establish himself as our dictator and believing he already is.

But, as much as I deplore him, I am more angry at the Republican Party for defending him and his actions and I am one registered voter who has been unhappy with the gerrymandering and the hateful propaganda dumped on us nationally and in our state. No party is to be devoted to more than the country that gives our liberty. It's painfully clear to me that this guy needs to be removed from office and — here is the message I want to send — any Republicans who don't pursue that action also need to be voted out of office!
