Police said a 14-year-old Layton girl escaped serious injury after a pickup crashed into her home late Monday night.
The Layton Police Department will decide whether to file charges against the 20-year-old driver, whose pickup drifted off a residential street and slammed into the house, according to Lt. Garret Atkin.
Atkin said police were called at about 10:45 p.m. Monday. The teenage girl inside had been hit by debris but not by the pickup itself.
"He barely missed that girl," Atkin said. "That truck went behind her by a matter of inches."
The crash happened at 1591 N. 160 West. Atkin said police would wait for the results of a toxicology test on the driver to decide whether to file charges. The driver told police he had fallen asleep at the wheel, Atkin said.
