Montpelier, Idaho • Authorities in eastern Idaho are telling residents living along the Highway 93 corridor to get ready to clear out of homes and cabins because of wildfires.

The Lemhi County Sheriff issued the evacuation order Wednesday as the Mustang Complex Fire continues to burn its way toward properties.

The fires —ignited by lightning strikes a month ago — has burned 232 square miles and fire officials say conditions are ripe for the fire to grow and intensify.

At a separate fire burning in the southeast corner, authorities have issued an evacuation order for people living in 24 threatened homes. The North Canyon Fire is burning about 20 miles west of Montpelier and so far has scorched 325 acres of timber and brush and burned two homes.
