Young country singer-songwriter Morgan Frazier will perform as part of the bar's 50th-anniversary celebration. Apparently she's allowed to perform, but don't try sending her any drinks. She's 18.
When • Friday, Aug. 31, at 10 p.m.
Where • The Westerner, 3360 S. Redwood Road, West Valley City
Tickets • $5 at SmithsTix
Club 90
Sugarland will perform at Usana Amphitheatre on Saturday night, so get your honky-tonk badonkadonk down to Club 90 for the pre-party. The club's barbecue grill will be lit at 5 p.m. Once the concert is over, get back to the club for the post-show party. Or you could skip the concert altogether and keep drinking $1.50 drafts all night, considering the high prices of beer at Usana. Your choice. Only one will have "American Idol" runner-up Lauren Alaina, though.
When • Saturday, Sept. 1, at 5 p.m.
Where • Club 90, 150 W. 9065 South, Sandy
Admission • Free
Barbary Coast Saloon
Bands Balance of Power, RIKSHA, LTA, The Commission, Dottie's Dames, plus entertainers from Trails and Hooters will be on hand at the bar's Labor Day Bash. The event is a fundraiser for the family of Ambrosia Amalathithada, a Whittier Elementary first-grader who was struck and killed by a car in March as she walked with her mother in a crosswalk near her school.
When • Saturday, Sept. 1, at noon
Where • Barbary Coast Saloon, 4242 S. State St., Salt Lake City
Tickets • $10 at door
Sing-along 'Sound of Music'
This is likely the squarest nightlife event of the week, but don't worry they'll have beer and wine available. This interactive sing-along to an outdoor screening of "The Sound of Music" is an event, as attendees are encouraged to dress up as their favorite nun, Von Trapp or Nazi officer for a competition before the movie. (If you dress up as your favorite Nazi officer, shame on you. Shame.) In attendance will be Utah resident Heather Urich, who played Louisa in the film, and will sign copies of The Sound of Music Family Scrapbook. Sing-along "Sound of Music" wraps up Park City Performing Arts Foundation's summer season with pure fun. It's the nonprofit's impish way of saying, "So long, farewell, adieu, adieu, adieu" to another glorious alpine summer.
When • Saturday, Sept. 1. Gates open at 4:30 p.m., with show at 6 p.m.
Where • Deer Valley Snow Park Amphitheater, 2250 Deer Valley Drive, Park City
Tickets • $25 for reserved seating, $15 for lawn seating, at ecclescenter.org
Bourbon House
You can watch the latest episode of "Breaking Bad" every Sunday at this watering hole, which can be tough to find but is well worth the time it takes to get there. (The bar is below the FedEx/Kinko's.) Let's hope that watching parties for "The New Normal" will be held in the future.
When • Sunday, Sept. 2, at 8 p.m.
Where • Bourbon House, 19 E. 200 South, Salt Lake City
Admission • Free
