A West Jordan man unwittingly led police straight to him after a laptop computer reported to be stolen snapped a photo of him using it.
According to an arrest warrant filed in 3rd District Court, the computer was equipped with a program that would take a picture of its user and use GPS data to provide its location after being reported stolen. The information led police to a West Valley City home, where the home's owner identified the suspect with the help of the laptop's photo.
The 21-year-old man is charged with one count of theft by receiving stolen property, a class-A misdemeanor. While police allege that the man should have known the computer was stolen, court records do not indicate who actually stole it.
