The Utah Transit Authority will offer no bus, TRAX or FrontRunner service on Labor Day. Regular service will resume on Tuesday.

This is the third year in a row that UTA has not offered any service on Labor Day.

UTA spokesman Gerry Carpenter said that at the depth of the recession in 2010, UTA decided to cancel service on Labor Day and Memorial Day to help make ends meet amid losses in sales tax revenue during tough times. It has continued those cancellations since then.

"They were low-ridership days," he said. "Doing that allowed us to maintain other routes and service."
