There's a right way and a wrong way to be a Ute.

That's the message from University of Utah athletic director Chris Hill, in the first of what purports to be a monthly series of YouTube messages to Utes fans.

In the video, Dr. Hill talks about the Utes' drum-and-feather logo, which U. of U. official have decided to keep after studying the cultural sensitivity issues behind it.

In that study, Dr. Hill said that fans should "become familiar with some of the things may be offensive and upsetting in a religious or sacred way to our Indian friends. It's not just the Ute tribe, but also Native Americans throughout the country."

Among the no-nos are feather headdresses, tipis, tomahawks and face-painting.
