Fans of Utah author Ally Condie's young-adult novel Matched will be thrilled to know that it's following the path — blazed by the "Twilight" and "Hunger Games" franchises — to the big screen.

And it's getting help from someone with "Twilight" credentials.

The Hollywood Reporter writes that Disney, which is making the "Matched" movie, has chosen David Slade to direct Condie's story of a young woman who breaks out of her arranged marriage to set her own path in a tightly controlled future society.

Slade directed the third "Twilight" movie, "Eclipse." He also directed the dark thriller "Hard Candy" and the gritty vampire movie "30 Days of Night."

A script, by Michelle and Kieran Mulroney (who collaborated on "Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows"), is in development.

Condie's third book in the series, Reached, hits book shelves this November.
