We have a wonderful balance of outdoor recreation, with premiere downhill skiing at seven resorts (and several others not too far away), and a great trail system for those who want to leave behind the noise and activity of the city. I love and use both. It's why I live here.

Yet the ski resorts can't stand it. There is never enough land for them; they never stop looking to grow. The proposed SkiLink gondola between Park City's Canyons resort and Solitude in Big Cottonwood Canyon is merely the latest example.

Why would we even consider selling our public lands to a foreign corporation? But even if the owner of Canyons resort were an American company, we should realize that this is just one of many expansions that the resorts want.

They won't be satisfied until they own all the suitable terrain. Then everyone wanting solitude will be crammed into the same little area, and there will be none.
