Condition of Herriman woman hit in crosswalk..

A 66-year-old woman hit by a car while in a Herriman crosswalk was in improved condition Tuesday, the day after the accident.

Unified Police Lt. Justin Hoyal said the woman initially had been listed in "extremely critical" condition after the 9 a.m. Monday incident at 14500 South and 5000 West. She was later was stabilized, though her condition remained officially critical Tuesday.

Hoyal said no citations had been issued, but the accident remained under investigation. It could be two to three weeks before investigators make their report to the Salt Lake County District Attorney's Office. Prosecutors will then screen possible charges against the driver of the car that hit the woman, Hoyal said.

The driver, a 33-year-old woman, was making a left turn at the intersection at the time of the accident.
