Two candidates remain in the running for the position of executive director of the Salt Lake City Library.
The Library Board of Directors conducted final interviews Tuesday with Benjamin Ocon, the director of the San Mateo, Calif., Public Library, who, at one time worked a the Salt Lake City Library, and Tracey Hunter Hayes, the director at Lincoln University Library in Pennsylvania.
The candidates have undergone a number of panel interviews, responded to case studies and have met with staff and library management to share their ideas and vision for the future of the Salt Lake City Library, according to a statement from the board.
It will announce its selection Sept. 20.
"We are looking for a strong, visionary director to lead our organization through these changing times, as well as someone who will represent the Salt Lake City Library and promote our mission in the community," said board spokeswoman Julianne Hancock.
Linda Hamilton, who was named transitional director in November 2011, has agreed to remain at the city library until the board has selected a permanent executive director.
