A man died after he was struck Tuesday night by a sport utility vehicle in Woods Cross.

The man had seen a deer carcass in the road and pulled over into the northbound shoulder of Redwood Road at 1881 South, said Detective Adam Osoro. He moved the deer, and on his way back to his vehicle he was struck in the lane by a northbound SUV about 8:30 p.m.

He was declared dead at the scene. Police are waiting to release his name until they've notified his family.

Investigators do not expect to file charges against the driver.

"There's nothing suspicious about it," Osoro said. It's a dark stretch of road, he added.
