Utes know they need a better start against BYU

The Utah Utes would love to jump on BYU early and put any thoughts of a Cougar win out of their minds as soon as possible. The problem is, the Utah Utes keep talking about the need for a good start but they've yet to produce one. The Utes have yet to score in the first quarter of either of their games this year and produced just 15 yards with their first 14 plays against Utah State and were 0-for-3 on third down conversions in that timeframe. Most troubling for the Utes is they don't have a real explanation as to why they are struggling. "It's just execution," receiver DeVonte Christopher said. "We know we have to do a better job." Running back John White said the team is focusing on getting their first quarter issues worked out this week. The offensive line can be targeted as much of the problem, with the line allowing Jordan Wynn to be sacked three times by the Aggies. A few personnel changes and a new attitude has made for an improved line, White hopes. "Last week was a slap in the face to those guys," he said. "They realize that and they need to lay it on the line and go all out. It's the biggest game coming up and we definitely need to start fast. We can't come out in the first half and not score.
