Utah and Stanford will create a bit of history Friday when the Utes host the sixth-ranked Cardinal in the Jon M. Huntsman Center. The Pac-12 home opener will be the first women's volleyball match played in the venue since Oct. 1, 1993 against BYU.
Utah (9-5, 0-1 Pac-12), which dropped a three-set decision at Colorado to open its conference season, is also looking to make a mark by upsetting Stanford (9-2, 1-0), fresh off a home sweep against California.
The 7 p.m. match will be televised live on the Pac-12 Network.
Outside hitter Morgan Odale led the Utes against Colorado with a team-high 13 kills, but Utah could not slow the Buffaloes, who managed a .299 hitting percentage.
Utah's offense, despite Odale, could only manage a .149 attack percentage.
