Due to poor enrollment, the Culinary Institute of America has decided to cancel its "World Cuisine Boot Camp" that was scheduled next month at the Viking Cooking School in Salt Lake City. Cost was likely a factor, as tuition was $1,995 per person.

CIA spokesman Jay Blotcher said in an email that the situation "is especially unfortunate, since I received 28 wonderful essays from Salt Lake Tribune readers vying for the free class" as part of The CIA-Viking Dream Chef Contest.

As a consolation, the CIA is sending all contestants a free copy of the its cookbook "Spain and the World Table" a $22.95 value.
