Washington County deputies continued Sunday to investigate why a car plunged off a cliff near Warner Valley, killing two people and injuring another.

Deputies said they first learned of that a vehicle had driven off the cliff about 5:15 a.m. Saturday south of Washington Dam Road when one of the victims called for help.

When rescue crews arrived, they discovered two people were dead. A third person was flown by helicopter to Dixie Regional Medical Center for treatment.

Names of the deceased were being withheld Sunday until their families could be notified. Authorities said two women and one man were involved in the crash but did not specify who survived.

The cause of the crash wasn't immediately released.
