Show me, Mitt

Trib columnist Peg McEntee is right in "Entitled? Look in the mirror, Mitt" (Tribune, Sept. 20). I'm part of the 53 percent who does earn enough to pay federal income taxes, plus state income, property and sales taxes. In doing so, I recognize at least the tax breaks I get from the government for owning a home.

Though I don't belong to Gov. Mitt Romney's unfairly and unwisely maligned 47 percent of Americans who do not pay federal income tax, I will not be voting for the Romney/Ryan ticket. Romney is much more dependent on government tax loopholes for his accumulation of wealth than any low-income person I know.

When Romney and Rep. Paul Ryan put forward a specific plan before the November election in which we all pay only 15-17 percent taxes on our income and show how they will reduce the deficit, rebalance the budget, re-unify the country and relate constructively with our international neighbors, then I may reconsider my choice in the upcoming election.
