A for absurd

Re "Chaffetz in the 3rd: High profile works for Utah" (Our View, Sept. 22):
I file The Tribune's endorsement of Rep. Jason Chaffetz to represent Utah's 3rd Congressional District in the same category as its endorsement of President George W. Bush for a second term: under A for absurd.
All you have to do is look out the window to see wildfire smoke choking the West from Montana to Washington and the half-empty Lake Powell drying up by the day to know that we need Soren Simonsen to try to bring sanity back to a "drill, baby, drill" Congress.
The Tribune has made its bed with Chaffetz's ridiculous $45 cot. Now go lie in it.
