Indianapolis Colts receiver Austin Collie will miss the rest of the season with a ruptured patellar tendon in his right knee.
Collie was injured during the second half of the 22-17 loss to Jacksonville after catching a short pass over the middle. Initially, the fear was that Collie may have suffered another concussion. The former BYU receiver has been diagnosed with three concussions over the past 221/2 months and left another game during that span with what team officials described as "concussion-like symptoms."
So when Collie grabbed his head Sunday, many fans and some teammates feared the worst. Collie then reached for his right knee. An MRI on Monday confirmed the bad news.
The NFL fined Broncos coach John Fox $30,000 and defensive coordinator Jack Del Rio $25,000 on Monday for arguing with replacement officials a week ago. In Denver's loss to Atlanta in the Sept. 17 Monday night game, Fox and Del Rio became enraged several times while arguing with officials.
NFL executive vice president of football operations Ray Anderson said he also is reviewing the conduct of Patriots coach Bill Belichick and the Ravens' John Harbaugh in Sunday night's New England-Baltimore game. Belichick grabbed the arm of an official as they were leaving the field after Baltimore kicked a winning field goal at the end of the game. He said he wanted an explanation of whether the kick was reviewable.
