October trial scheduled for Wellington rape suspect

A jury trial has been set for a 22-year-old Carbon County man who police say broke into a woman's Wellington apartment and raped her in January.

Dwaine Stacey Shaw, of Wellington, is charged in 7th District court with aggravated burglary, rape, forcible sodomy, aggravated kidnapping, aggravated sexual assault and aggravated robbery, all first degree felonies.Earlier this week, Shaw pleaded not guilty to all of the charges. A trial has been set for Oct. 29-30.On Jan. 13, a woman reported someone wearing a mask broke into her residence in Wellington and raped her. Wellington police said DNA evidence collected from the crime scene confirmed Shaw was the perpetrator. jmiller@sltrib.com
