Europe won the Ryder Cup because of great team spirit and a willingness to sacrifice player egos for the common good. The spectacle was enhanced by the wonderful sportsmanship of U.S. golf team member Phil Mickelson applauding his opponent's great shots at a critical time.

If only our politicians would follow suit.
