USC's defense might take a back seat to the publicity that the Trojans' offense receives, but the Utes are well aware of the talent USC has on the defensive side of the ball. Receiver DeVonte Christopher said after Monday's practice the Utes have plenty of respect for the Trojans' defense. "They motor around and make a lot of plays," he said. "They have good linebackers, good safeties, they are good everywhere." Utah quarterback Jon Hays said he was particularly aware of No. 7, 6-foot-3 senior safety T.J. McDonald. "He is key," he said. "You have to know when he is blitzing and you have to allow for him." The thought of going up against a good defense didn't seem to bother running back John White much. After taking much of the blame for the loss at ASU, White seemed like his old self, joking around after practice Monday. A healing ankle probably was one of the reasons he was smiling so much. "I'm feeling excellent," he said. "I'm ready to get on the field against another team and go out and execute." - Lya Wodraska
