A BASE jumper was dangling by his parachute from a cliff late Monday in Utah County.
The man was jumping with friends from a cliff in the mouth of Provo Canyon about 7:30 p.m. when his chute became caught on the cliff, said Utah County sheriff's Sgt. Spencer Cannon. The man stayed in his harness, which was suspended about 300 feet below the jumping-off point and about 100 feet above a steep slope.
Crews were trying to set up ropes to rappel to the man and secure him before lowering him, Cannon said.
The rescue was expected to take at least a few hours, Cannon said.
