It was interesting to note that the Tribune editorial board officially endorsed Gov. Gary Herbert, and for some good reasons ("Herbert for guv: Incumbent has earned another term," Our View, Sept. 30).
However, little is known or has been reported about his opponent, Gen. Peter Cooke. A former two-star general in the Army Reserve, Cooke is a very strong leader. He knows how to fire up his men and women with enormous enthusiasm.
This honest, fine man brings fresh blood, energy and views to many of Utah's challenges. He is devoted to his country, family and church.
Unfortunately his platforms and campaign events have had little coverage from the press. It's one thing to endorse a candidate, but the media is really supposed to inform its readers, not choose for them.
How can the readers make an intelligent decision when they have been given so few facts?
