Clinton cops: Man stoned on aerosol crashes into garage

Clinton police say a 36-year-old man huffing fumes from a can of compressed air got so stoned he crashed into a residential garage. Now, he's sobering up behind bars.

The accident occurred when the man careened off the road Thursday morning, hit a mail box, toppled a light pole, took out two fences and crashed into a parked RV before plowing into a garage near 100 West and 800 North.

The suspect allegedly acknowledged to police that he had been inhaling fumes from the air duster, a product that often contains a toxic propellant that is both intoxicating and potentially lethal.

No one inside the home was injured.

The suspect did not sustain any serious injuries and was booked into Davis County Jail, where he remained Friday on $2,296 bail. He was being held on suspicion of reckless driving, psychotoxic abuse, driving on a revoked or suspended driver's license and failure to install an ignition interlock device.
