St. George police locked down an elementary school in their search for a bank robber on Friday.

The robbery happened shortly after noon, when a man walked into the Cache Valley Bank at 1224 S. River Road and passed a noted demanding cash, according to St. George Police Officer Derek Lewis. The teller handed over cash and the robber ran away, headed west.

The Heritage Elementary School is located about a half-mile away in that direction on East Riverside Drive, and officers told students and teachers to stay inside on lockdown as they search for the man.
