State colleges: BYU soccer plays to draw

Goalkeeper Erica Owens made six saves, helping the No. 6 BYU women's soccer team to a 0-0 tie versus Santa Clara on Friday night at South Field.

The Cougars (11-10-1, 0-0-1 West Coast Conference) outshot the No. 21 Broncos 22-9 and took five shots on goal in overtime.

Women's volleyball

Washington def. Utah 25-14, 25-16, 23-25, 25-20 • The Utes (9-9, 0-5 Pac-12) avoided a sweep by winning the third game but could not sustain their momentum in the fourth and lost at home to the second-ranked Huskies (13-0, 5-0). Shelby Dalton led Utah with nine kills. The Utes host Washington State on Saturday at 7 p.m.
