Spectrum Engineers has announced that Joseph M. "Jody" Good, its principal lighting and theatre designer, was honored with a 2011 GE Edison Special Citation Award for his lighting design of the historic Ogden High School auditorium restoration.
The Utah law firm of Ray Quinney & Nebeker has announced that Greggory J. Savage will serve as chair of the firm's Litigation Section and that Kamie F. Brown will serve as vice chair. Savage is a seasoned litigator who has prosecuted and defended claims in areas that include catastrophic torts, real property, land use and construction defects. Brown has experience representing manufacturers, distributors and insurers in product liability and commercial litigations matters.
Richter7, a Salt Lake City-based advertising and public relations agency, promoted Peter Brown to public relations account manager. Brown joined the firm in 2010 as a PR account coordinator. He has experience in media and community relations, event coordination and social media.
After an extensive national search, Cameron Martin has been selected to serve as vice president for university relations at Utah Valley University. He replaces Val Hale, who left UVU in July to become president and CEO of the Utah Valley Chamber of Commerce. Martin will officially assume his duties Oct. 15.
The Salt Lake City-based law firm of Snow, Christensen & Martineau has announced that Robert T. Denny and Adam M. Pace have become associates. Denny will be practicing in the areas of appeals, commercial litigation, and a variety of other civil litigation matters. He graduated from the S.J. Quinney College of Law at the University of Utah, where he served on the executive board of the Utah Law Review and was a member of the National Moot Court Team. Since joining the firm as a law clerk in 2009, Pace has assisted clients in diverse civil litigation matters involving product liability and insurance defense and appeals.
The American Planning Association Utah Chapter has presented its Meritorious Planner Award to Stephen B. Smith, a Salt Lake City planner and architect. Smith is principal and director of planning at GSBS Architects.
Catherine R. deVries, a University of Utah surgeon who has traveled the world improving urologic care and access to surgery in undeveloped nations, has received the 2012 American College of Surgeons/Pfizer Surgical Humanitarian Award. In the past two decades, deVries has made dozens of trips to Africa, Latin America and Asia, where hundreds of millions of people are at risk. Although she has performed countless operations, her primary goal has been to teach surgical procedures to local physicians and nurses so they can meet the needs of the populations they serve.
The American Association of Law Libraries and its State, Court & County Special Interest Section has awarded Utah State Law Librarian Jessica Van Buren the 2012 O. James Werner Award. It honors a member who has made a significant contribution to serving directly or for arranging services to be provided to persons with disabilities. Van Buren received the award for her volunteer work with the Utah State Library for the Blind and Disabled, where she records books of Utah interest.
Snell & Wilmer has announced that Nora Pincus has joined as an associate in its real estate, environmental and finance practice group in Salt Lake City. She has several years of environmental law experience having previously worked for the law firm of Welborn Sullivan Meck and Tooley in Colorado. Snell & Wilmer also announced that Jared Fields, an associate in the firm's Salt Lake City office, recently was elected to serve on the Board of Trustees for the Disability Law Center of Utah. Since 1979, the DLC has helped thousands of Utahns with disabilities and their families.
The MGIS Companies Inc., a Salt Lake City-based provider of insurance products and services specifically for physicians, announced that Michael G. Green has been appointed vice president of IT operations. He will lead the development and implementation of strategic IT systems for MGIS and its subsidiary companies.
Food service distributor Nicholas & Co. has promoted three vice presidents Dave Robbins, Ed Carr and George Adondakis to executive vice president. Robbins will oversee transportation, operations and procurement. Adondakis will continue to direct human resources. Carr will oversee all sales and marketing activities, in addition to leading research and development of potential expansion markets.
Coldwell Banker Commercial NRT, Salt Lake City, has announced that Doug Scheel and Troy Scheel have joined the brokerage as vice president and senior associate, respectively. Doug Scheel is a 20-year veteran in the commercial real estate industry. Troy Scheel began his career in 2003 and is a commercial agent.
