Parks bond meeting is Wednesday in Bluffdale

The third in a series of Salt Lake County-sponsored informational meetings about the $47 million parks bond that will be on the Nov. 6 ballot will take place 5:30-7 p.m. Wednesday at Bluffdale City Hall, 14350 S. 2200 West.

County Mayor Peter Corroon proposed the general obligation bond to fund completion of the Jordan River and Parleys trails and to acquire property for regional parks or develop facilities in Magna, Kearns and the valley's southwest and southeast quadrants.

The county estimates the proposed 20-year bond will cost the owner of a $238,000 home about $5.73 annually. The tax on a similarly valued business will go up an estimated $10.24.

Similar meetings have been held the past two weeks in Magna and West Valley City. Future sessions are set for:

• Oct. 17 at 5:30 p.m. at Draper City Hall, 1020 E. Pioneer Road (12400 South).

• Oct. 25 at 3:30 p.m. at the Sugarhouse Park pavilion, 2100 S. 1300 East.

• Nov. 1 at 3:30 p.m. at Northwest Recreation Center, 1255 Clark Ave. (300 North).
