A Kaysville woman died and her husband was injured when their motorcycle plunged 150 feet down a gulch along Hawaii's Akoni Pule Highway.
Hawaii County police Officer Larry Flowers identified the victim of the Monday crash as Jennie Wahlstrom, 32, of Kaysville.
KHON 2 News reported that the victim's 35-year-old husband, Nathan Wahlstrom, was taken to North Hawaii Community Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. Jennie Wahlstrom had been rushed to Kona Community Hospital, where she was declared dead.
The husband was driving the northwest-bound 2012 Harley Davidson motorcycle with his wife riding on the back, when he swerved to avoid a car that crossed the center line into his lane, police said.
Police were looking for the operator of the gray sedan that forced Wahlstrom to swerve off the road.
