Casting a straight party vote may be convenient, but it can also be irresponsible. One candidate on the Republican ticket is particularly troubling.

Voters should remember that, as a member of the Salt Lake County Council, Mark Crockett was a leading voice to split both the Jordan and Granite school districts. He led the charge for legislation that disenfranchised the entire west side of these districts by not allowing them to vote on the splits.

Crockett also demonstrated fiscal irresponsibility in supporting a district split that has cost taxpayers in both the Jordan and Canyons districts millions in unnecessary expenses.

Salt Lake County needs a mayor who will respect and advocate for the entire county. Ben McAdams is a builder who will represent, respect and advocate on behalf of all Salt Lake County residents.
