Republican Mark Crockett is tightening his connections to the Mitt Romney White House bid as the campaign for Salt Lake County mayor accelerates.

Crockett announced Tuesday that he has been endorsed by Josh Romney, son of the presidential nominee. In what is projected to be a close race, Crockett could benefit if many Utah voters cast straight-party Republican ballots out of enthusiasm for Mitt Romney being a Mormon and the former leader of Salt Lake's Olympic effort.

"Like my father Mitt Romney, Mark Crockett has real experience fixing large and complex organizations," said Josh Romney. "As mayor, Mark will find efficiencies and save taxpayer dollars. I live and work in Salt Lake County and want Mark Crockett to be my mayor because of his business background. Mark will be an effective leader from day one. "
