Police bust two men with four pounds of meth, $24K

Police arrested two men after they found four pounds of methamphetamine in one home and about $24,500 divided between their houses.

Both men were charged Tuesday in 3rd District Court with possession of a controlled substance with the intent to distribute. The second of the two also was charged with bribery to influence official or political actions.

Officers searched the first man's Salt Lake City home on Oct. 4, when the man admitted he had four pounds of meth, according to the charges. Officers say they found the drugs in a spare bedroom.

In the bedroom closet, officers also found $9,490 inside a gym bag, which the man admitted was drug sales proceeds, the charges add. Police also say the man told them the drugs belonged to a second man, who paid him to hold the drugs.

Officers then searched the second man's home, also in Salt Lake City, where they found the suspect and $15,011, the charges state. As a detective drove the second man to jail, he offered to let the detective keep the money "and make this go away," according to the charges.
