Police: Heber mom broke law helping teens hide sexual relationship

A Heber City mother is in hot water after she allegedly helped her 14-year-old daughter and the teen's lover conduct an illicit affair.

The 40-year-old woman is facing criminal charges for allegedly assisting the teens in pursuing their sexual encounters.

Heber City police allege the mother would wait for her husband to fall asleep and then drive to pick up her daughter's 17-year-old lover and bring him back to her home so the teens could conduct a sexual relationship, according to a probable-cause statement filed in 4th District Court.

Police said the mom would then set her alarm, wake up the boy the following morning and take him home before her husband awoke.

During one such visit, police said, the mother made the 17-year-old exit through her daughter's bedroom window so he wouldn't get caught by the girl's father.

The woman also admitted she gave both teens alcohol on one occasion, even though they were both underage, according to the probable-cause statement.

The mother has been charged with child abuse and two counts of furnishing alcohol to a minor, all class A misdemeanors, and two counts of being an accomplice in acts of unlawful sexual activity with a minor, both class B misdemeanors.
