The 6th annual Diversity Dinner to Promote Understanding is scheduled for 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Utah Cultural Celebration Center, 1355 W. 3100 South, in West Valley City.

Dinner is free to the public, said Rebecca Sanchez of the Salt Lake County Mayor's Office of Diversity Affairs, but participants must register in advance at www.diversity.slco.org and be willing to "share of their experiences. Each table will be carefully chosen to represent people from diverse backgrounds."

The goal, she added, "is to promote understanding, increase positive interactions within the community and build respect for our differences."

Program moderator Mary Dickson from KUED will pose questions to the crowd.
