Re "Super spending for Matheson, Love, more attack ads are on the way" (Tribune, Oct. 15):

Utah's 4th Congressional District race is not an ad war; it's a war on decency. What a shame that all of us in Utah have to endure these insulting interruptions (to our intelligence and common respectability) any time we watch TV.

Sadly, there's no accountability for candidates. It's all the fault of invisible and uncontrollable political action committees.

This is the new politics — to present these disgusting ads at virtually every turn, hoping to alienate voters from voting altogether, so that only those dedicated to the candidate promoting this barrage will turn out on Election Day. I'm sure our Founding Fathers are outraged.

I used to think Rep. Jim Matheson and Mayor Mia Love were wonderful people. They have both lost me, now that I'm forced to endure this constant onslaught of distortions and out-of-context quotations.

To those in the 4th District: Put these two disappointing candidates in their place and vote for anyone else. You might even consider writing in Jay Leno or David Letterman. Then at least you can have foolish insults that are funny.
