Tribune writer wins top religion reporting prize

The Salt Lake Tribune's Peggy Fletcher Stack has been awarded the prestigious Cornell Religion Reporter of the Year award.
The Religion Newswriters Association announced the honor —which goes to the top religion reporter for midsize newspapers — during its conference earlier this month in Bethesda, Md.
This marks Stack's second top Cornell prize in her journalistic career.
In previous years, Stack, who has been producing religion stories for two decades for The Tribune and its award-winning Faith section, earned several runner-up honors.
In the latest competition, Bob Smietana of The Tennessean won second place, and Bill Sherman of the Tulsa World took third.
