The second debate between Gov. Mitt Romney and President Barack Obama was troubling for several reasons, but what bothered me most was Romney's discussion of oil drilling and energy development in North America.
As much as he hemmed-and-hawed about how he will open up oil drilling on an unprecedented scale, Romney did not once mention our responsibility to the environment. But Obama did. He understands that sustainable, long-term energy policy and our commitment to the environment are crucial parts of the same conversation.
Listening to Romney's myopic bluster, how could one possibly think otherwise?
