Shame on The Tribune for its endorsement of Sam Granato for Salt Lake County Council. The editorial "Sam Granato: Best fit for S.L. County District 4" (Our View, Oct. 14) fundamentally misrepresented Missy Larsen's well-thought-out positions on county issues.

It stated that Larsen's positions indicate a lack of "a thorough knowledge of the nuts and bolts of county government." That is blatantly untrue. It is obvious to anyone who spends 10 minutes talking to Larsen that she is extremely knowledgeable about the role, working and issues of county government.

More important, she has great ideas, work ethic and skills necessary to bring real pragmatic solutions to fruition. The spin by The Trib shows me that it editors are more interested in supporting their own agenda than in fair reporting.

We need elected officials who are not ideologues predisposed to extremes on any given issue. I want civil servants who are open-minded, who will look at each individual issue, listen to all sides, listen to her constituents, bring opposing sides together with real solutions and make well-reasoned decisions.

The county deserves that, and that is why I will be voting for Missy Larsen.
