She didn't have teammates, but Grace Schulz had a team behind her.

South Summit fans wildly cheered the school's only girls' cross country runner as she sprinted down the turn to victory. She was able to widen the gap ahead of Rowland Hall's Emily Sundquist.

"It feels really nice to have a really supportive community," Schulz said. "The boys' team was singing 'Amazing Grace' because they're kind of weird. But it was nice to feel not alone out there."
