A Salt Lake man who prosecutors say tried to scale the wall of a downtown night club after being kicked out was charged with felony drug possession in court Wednesday.

An arrest warrant issued in 3rd District Court against the 29-year-old alleges the man suffered a large head wound after he fell from the 20-foot wall on Sept. 19.

When emergency responders arrived to treat him, he lost consciousness before giving them his full name. As police checked his pockets for identification, they found a plastic bag containing what was later positively tested as methamphetamine.

The owner of the nightclub on 600 West, known as The Venue, told police that the man had been kicked out twice that evening and tried to climb up a barbed wire fence on the building's east side before his failed attempt to scale the wall.

The warrant, which called for a $5,000 bond, charged the man with possession of a controlled substance, a third-degree felony, and criminal trespass, a class B misdemeanor.
