Our political culture seems to be going in two directions at once. On the one hand, politicians seem to be more rigid in their partisan positions. Simultaneously, the general public is crying for candidates willing to put partisan demands aside in order to get this country moving again on behalf of the people rather than special interests with unlimited resources.

Unfortunately, in order to get the nomination and to raise the money they think they need to win, most incumbents are in the trap of super partisanship. I know Scott Howell to be the kind of candidate who resists these pressures.

I served in leadership with Scott in the Utah Senate. He was then, and he remains today, a statesman, always working for compromise to benefit the people of Utah. First and foremost, Scott represented his constituents.

Scott Howell will serve in the U.S. Senate with these same principles. You can be assured that his special interest group will be all citizens of Utah.

Consider voting for Scott Howell for the U.S. Senate on Nov. 6.
