Westminster College will move to Division I of the Men's Collegiate Lacrosse Association for the 2014 season, head coach Mason Goodhand announced Thursday. Westminster is currently a Division II member and will compete for a second national championship at that level next spring. Westminster has been in D-II since the program started in 2007. The Griffins won national championship in 2008 and have qualified for the national tournament every year. Westminster will join Brigham Young, Colorado State, Colorado, Utah, Utah State and New Mexico in the Rocky Mountain Lacrosse Association's Division I. Since 2007, the Griffins have gone 89-34 overall and 22-2 in league games. They have won the conference championship four times and reached the championship game every year.
