Home Depot is sponsoring two Utah workshops on Saturday to help members of the military or veterans find civilian jobs.

The workshops, from noon to 4 p.m., will be held at Home Depot offices, 801 Depot Drive in Ogden, and at the Home Depot store, 1538 W. 9000 South, West Jordan.

The Home Depot has more than 35,000 employees who are veterans or in the military, and recognizes the skills they have to offer as well as the challenges in marketing their abilities in the civilian workplace, a news release said.

Company human resources professionals, with the help of veterans, will focus on job search strategies, résumés and interviewing. The workshops are open to any member of the military or veterans moving into any civilian career field.

The Civilian Career Workshops are part of a larger initiative, dubbed Mission: Transition, aimed at arming U.S. service men and women with the knowledge and resources they need to transition into the civilian workforce. The two Utah workshops are among 100 such workshops the home improvement company is sponsoring across the country on Saturday.

Attendees must register online in advance of the workshops at careers.homedepot.com/military.
